de Vianti (de_vianti) – Interview with Photographer (10 questions)

De Vianti (de_vianti)

Meet de Vianti (de_vianti), a talented Czech photographer whose work blends glamour, fetish, and latex cosplay photography with artistic finesse. Known for his bold and unique style, he dives deep into creative expression while staying true to his artistic values. We had the pleasure of speaking with de Vianti (de_vianti) about his inspirations, creative process, and the deeper meaning behind his work.

1. What led you to start photographing glamour and fetish styles?

de Vianti (de_vianti): I believe that beginner photographers go through a similar process. When they get their first camera, they start by photographing everything they come across—landscapes, architecture, people, or animals. Over time, they settle into one segment and continuously improve in it. For me, it was portraits. And from portraits, it was just a small step to glamour and fetish styles. Part of my personality is connected to the BDSM community, which made it easier to arrange photoshoots with fetish people. The trust was stronger, allowing me to experiment more.

2. How would you describe your latex cosplay projects, and what fascinates you most about them?

In one word: uniqueness. At least in the Czech Republic, latex cosplay is unparalleled. There is only one model who specializes in latex cosplay – Inked Nyx. Together with Inked Nyx, we’re trying to bring more awareness to this style and ideally encourage more models to join in. For me, latex is the ultimate clothing for photography. Just look at how beautifully it shines! And cosplay showcases the model’s skills—crafting the perfect outfit, applying awesome makeup, and preparing for a shoot. No other style offers anything quite like it. And when you combine latex and cosplay, it’s pure perfection.

3. How long does it take to prepare one of your complex latex cosplay photoshoots, from idea to final editing?

The ideas for photoshoots usually come from the model interested in shooting latex cosplay with me. She handles the outfit and the character she wants to portray. My role is to find the perfect setting that fits the character, whether it’s a studio or outdoor locations. Sometimes, I even shoot abroad, like on a beach. Preparing for the shoot doesn’t take much time for me. The actual shoot lasts about 1–3 hours. The real time investment comes later, during post-processing, where I dedicate the most effort. Cosplay photography demands a high level of retouching and photomanipulation, and latex cosplay is no exception. I can easily spend 1–2 hours working on a single photo to achieve the desired result.

4. How do you perceive the role of lighting and colors when working with latex costumes?

Understanding light is an entirely new and challenging level in photography. I’m experimenting with it the most to achieve the perfect result. Light is incredibly important, and when it falls on a material as shiny as latex, it becomes even more crucial. I also adjust colours quite a lot during post-processing because I’m not satisfied with the colour profile of my camera. Sony really has a bit of a weak spot in this area. However, I’d say that if you can create the perfect lighting in a photo, the role of colours becomes much less significant.

5. Do you have any artistic inspirations that have shaped your unique style?

I have several photographers whose work and creativity I deeply admire, but I’ll highlight three distinct ones. In fetish glamour, I particularly enjoy the photos by Shotbysud, in cosplay, it’s AZ Production, and for something completely out of the box, it’s Eric Paré, who paints with light.

6. What are your favorite hobbies outside of photography that inspire you creatively?

I would describe it as a passion for aesthetics. I enjoy standard and Latino dance, where I explore the connection between two bodies; within the BDSM community, I practice shibari, focusing on the aesthetics of the body; and I work out at the gym, striving to improve myself. Together, these interests create a cocktail of ideas for my photography.

7. How do you balance your personal and professional identity as a photographer?

Manageably. It’s like two beings living in one body. The creative side handles the photography, while the other side takes care of everything else. However, I generally try to connect both worlds rather than separate them.

8. If you could create any superhero latex cosplay, which would it be and why?

If the latex cosplay were on me, I’d plan to do Batman. I love DC Comics, and Batman, alongside Robin, is the character I relate to the most. If the question is about a model, I’d want to shoot characters from DC Comics again. This universe has so much potential!

9. How do you handle criticism from people who don’t understand or accept fetish photography?

I respect that, but I’d like to argue back. Fetish photography has its rightful place in the world of photography, and it’s important to continue developing this sphere artistically. The human body is one of the most perfect subjects to photograph.

10. In your opinion, what defines the boundary between art and provocation in fetish glamour photography?

De Vianti (de_vianti): An artistic approach to photography. It’s always possible to create a photo that isn’t vulgar but artistic. That’s what I strive for. Provocative, low-value photos are abundant on the internet, but truly artistic provocative photos are much rarer.
